Unlike traditional backup software, with Perfect Image Pro you won't have to resort to reinstalling Windows or any installed application on your PC. This program allows you make an exact working replica of your hard drive from which you can recover.
This innovative backup solution provides PC users with everything needed to safely backup all their sensitive and important data.
The benefits of making a perfect image of your hard drive are huge, imagine not having to worry about a PC crash where your hard drive can not be salvaged, this is not an uncommon problem and it's also not uncommon for PC users to work off the same drive for years, only to suffer data loss of precious files at the least expected moment.
1. Installation - Very straight forward, it does require a reboot.
2. User Interface - The user interface seems straight forward, though there are quite a few options and it's easy to get confused, but all these options are very important, you'll need a few minutes to familiarize yourself with it. You could start by simply creating a backup of your system right away. Look in the "Basic Backup Tasks" area for the choices you have there.
3. Basic Backup Tasks - In this are you have 3 options "Backup Disk or Partition", "Schedule Backup" and "Back up Files". Since this is going to be your first time running a backup of your system, we'll choose the first option. This backup wizard will show all your local drives, if you select your C: drive toward the bottom of the wizard windows you'll see the actual size of your drive and the estimated size of the image it is about to create. For example in the case of the system this program was tested on, the C: drive was 39.9GB and the estimated image size was 9.7GB, not bad!
As for the other options, the Schedule Backup wizard is where PC users can automate the backup process once again by selecting the correct drive(s) and choosing a destination area for the image.
The last option (Back up Files) lets the user select individual files and folders from any local drive and directing the backups to an alternate destination area where they can be kept safely. This can be an external drive or a partition on the local drive if it is large enough.
4. Restore Tasks - Again three very obvious options "Restore Disk or Partition", "Restore Files" and "Restore Individual Files", all of which are also wizards that can help you recover an entire Disk or individual files by browsing through backed up images.
Perfect Image works pretty quickly to deliver file recovery in seconds or minutes depending on how large the set of files or folders that were selected are, but if the files were backed up they will be restored.
Restoring individual files is easy to do as well, again the program will present the user with a File Transfer Wizard where the user can browse through backed up images and find the file they intend to restore. Once the file is located and selected, simply click on the arrow to paste to the clipboard and click next and the file is restored to its original location.
The tools menu includes the following options: "Manage Secure Partition", which helps the user create, resize or delete a secure partition, which is something the user would have setup previously as a safe place to keep backup images.
**Although this program allows PC users to create backup images on different partitions on the same local drive, it would be a better idea to put these images on a separate secondary drive, this can be an internal or external drive.
The "Recovery Media Builder" will help users create recovery disks that can be used to boot a PC from, in case Windows can not boot anymore. This recovery disk is based on a full functional Linux/DOS type recovery media, which will provide Network, USB disks, CD/DVD and Firewire functionality.
The "Check Recovery Media" wizard helps test recovery media for integrity and the ability to boot from it. This media can be CD, DVD or a bootable image.
The "Verify Image Integrity" wizard does exactly what the name implies, it verifies the integrity of an image of a hard disk or partition.
The "Transfer Files" wizard is used to copy files and save data easily. Save data stored on local drives or within images previously created by the Backup Image software. This feature also allows users to browser through images to restore individual files.
